A flower wall is a wall, panel, board, or other vertical surface or arrangement embellished with flowers. Flower walls make striking, naturalistic backgrounds for special events, social media posts, and home decor.

Whether you seek an elegant flower wall to delight wedding guests or a cascade of brightly colored paper flowers to suspend in a dull living room corner, you’re sure to find it in the shops on Etsy.

Flower wall decor takes many forms, from full three-dimensional installations to removable decals. It adds a touch of cheer and warmth anywhere, from lobbies and conference rooms to bedrooms and playrooms. These are some of the most popular flower wall decor types available on Etsy:

  • Backdrop: A flower wall backdrop is a large, freestanding installation filled with a custom mix of faux flowers—a miniature wall that’s fantastic as a background for social media posts. One-of-a-kind paper flower walls and hangable flower wall sheets attach to existing walls. A one-of-a-kind paper flower wall anchors a gift station at a wedding.
  • Wallpaper: Flower wallpaper blankets a wall with a beautiful array of flora. Removable or permanent floral wallpaper adds soft charm to a basement family room. A floral accent wall welcomes customers to a store.
  • Wall art: Flower wall art takes your blank walls from boring to beautiful. Metal flower wall decor lends a modern organic vibe to a room. Wood and faux flower wall art brings nature indoors.
  • Wall decals: Removable, adjustable flower wall stickers and decals add colorful accents to a dorm room or apartment. Decals come in many styles, from cute and whimsical to hyper-realistic. Change them to create looks for each season.

If you love making your own decorations, shops on Etsy have all the tools and materials you need to create a flower wall from scratch. Follow these steps to create a hangable floral statement piece sure to turn heads:

  1. Choose artificial flowers to match your desired theme or color scheme. Faux flowers create a natural look, whereas paper flowers add whimsy.
  2. Decide where you’ll place your flower wall. Measure the length and width of the space with a measuring tape.
  3. Cut foam board to your preferred size. Use a ruler to keep your edges as straight as possible.
  4. Trim the stems with wirecutters, leaving about 1 inch attached. Cut the leaves, twigs, and filler to various sizes.
  5. Before permanently attaching anything, arrange your pieces on the foam board. Place the biggest blooms first, and fill the smaller areas with the rest.
  6. When you’ve found a configuration you love, punch flower stems through the foam board and bend them to lie flat on the backside. Secure them with tape.
  7. For flowers without stems—or for extra security—dab hot glue on the backs of the flowers and press them to the foam.

Apply this technique to flower wall decor of all sizes. Try making several panels and attaching them to a wood frame to make your own freestanding backdrop, or cut your foam to spell a name or phrase.
