This year is all about gifting on Etsy—and we’re excited to share all the progress we’ve made since introducing Gift Mode during the big game in February. Over the past few months our team has been working to expand Gift Mode to even more shoppers. We’ve also introduced tons of new gifting-focused features, including gift teasers, so even last-minute shoppers can find great gifts on Etsy.

1. Gift teasers are helping last-minute shoppers purchase extra-special gifts on Etsy.
Since we introduced gift teasers in January, buyers have shared more than 200,000 teasers via email! Gift teasers let shoppers tell recipients something special is on the way. And that means your one-of-a-kind or personalized items can now be the perfect last-minute gift! Gift teasers can be sent instantly or scheduled for a specific date and the buyer can choose to include a preview of the gift or keep things a surprise. Shoppers are LOVING them. Usage of the feature is growing—7% of orders marked as gifts included a gift teaser in March (up from 6% in February and 4% in January!)
And an extra bonus: Roughly 35% of gift teasers are sent to new buyers, so this may bring new customers to Etsy too! We’re working to amp up the thoughtful factor with new ways for shoppers to personalize gift teasers. Soon shoppers will be able to add a personal video message to their gift teaser and in a couple months we’ll introduce fun templates for different shopping occasions like birthdays, weddings, babies, and new homes.
Best of all, there’s nothing you need to do! When shoppers create a gift teaser, you’ll see a gift message badge on the order in your Shop Manager. For more details on the ins and outs of gift teasers, check out this announcement post.
2. Etsy’s newest TV campaign could help grow Etsy’s community of buyers by highlighting our gifting tools. And we’re giving YOU an exclusive first look.
Our latest ads showcase how buyers can use gift teasers to send thoughtful gifts at the last minute, no matter WHAT they’re doing when they realize they forgot to place an order (see what we mean by watching the ad below). These new spots will start airing in the United States and United Kingdom this week!
